TRANSVERSE VISIONS
The appointment with the great twentieth-century art has arrived. This year the Foundation Sorrento offers residents and visitors the opportunity to see live the works of world famous artists. For 2016 the association chaired by the owner Gianluigi Aponte, thanks to the direction of Luigi Gargiulo, aimed at the Italian Novecento, with two exhibitions that will alternate in the coming months. This evening the exhibition entitled "Visions Transversal in the Italian painting of the twentieth century" was opened.
They are 66 artists displaying their paintings, most of which come from the museum Ca 'La Ghironda Bologna (inauguration was also attended by the director Vittorio Spampinato), Magi from the Bologna museum, the Tito Balestra Foundation in Longiano and some private collections. It ranges from De Chirico to Ligabue, from Morandi to Sassu and many other famous names. The paintings were distributed according to a thematic order between the different rooms of Villa Fiorentino, the headquarters of the Sorrento Foundation that during these events in-house art transforms into the city. To confirm it is also the mayor, Giuseppe Cuomo: "Sorrento continues to be a leader in the national cultural scene - said the mayor during the ceremony -, this is thanks to the Sorrento Foundation and the organizers of these events continue to draw thousands of fans Worldwide". "It 's only right to thank those who helped us in the realization of this so-gno - echoes Gargiulo Director - especially the curator Gino Fienga. With this exhibition we complete a process started in 2011. And it was only right to conclude the cycle with a retrospective exhibition on the art of the Italian Novecento ". The categories in which it is articulated are: The dream body; Places and scenarios; abstract tensions; Besides the image; The object's enigma; Signs, gestures, entries; Matter and alchemy; Action and thought.
From June 27 onwards, the paintings will give way to the sculptures. From July 9, in fact, the Villa Fiorentino halls will host the works of about 50 Italian masters of the twentieth century sculpture. Exhibition that will be open until 6 November.
The citizens of Sorrento and tourists have, however, already been able to appreciate some of the works of artists thanks to the arrangement in the main squares of Sorrento 4 installations of great value: in Piazza Andrea Veniero has been positioned the "Oedipus Porta" of Augustus Perez; in Piazza Sant'Antonino he has found the place "Bifrontale uno" Pietro Consagra; Piazza Tasso is visible in the "Form D" by Umberto Mastroianni and in Piazza Angelina Lauro the "Thebes seated" by Giacomo Manzu. Among these facilities there is also the "Great Contortionist" Luciano Minguzzi, placed in the fountain located at the entrance of Villa Fiorentino.
